Tottenham - slid in with Son directly behind him, meanwhile slow bollocks was fifteen yards behind the play
Chelsea - first goal, he didn't head it at all you plum - it cleared his head by at least a foot - possibly two
Home to FCSB - lucky deflection, the FCSB attackers still and three or four defenders to negotiate
Home to Viborg - held down/back by the black number nine, coufal outjumped on the back post
Last night - first goal - coufal again letting the man he the cross in. second goal, kherer's still in the opposition half after the ball was cleared - nowhere near play so not sure what the fuck you're on about

as I said, try netball or something else you cunt

I would like to see Kehrer at right back, seems that's where PSG played him more often than not last season. Might be a bit less error prone there than in the centre.

Might also sort the right back situation a bit, Coufal is still well off it and could save us a few quid in January on the likes of Wan Bissaka or the bloke off Torino we were linked with on deadline day.

Spot on. I would see him and Downes as the long-term replacements for Rice and Soucek. And right now highly competitive cover.

Re: ⚽ Silkeborg IF v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Kehrer ain't dogshit. He's got some quality. Unfortunately also seems to have one mistake in him per game. Quite a bad position to play if that's the case.

Would also help if we as a team were asked to do less defending. The more defending he does, the more likely that mistake happening.

Attacking is a great form of not defending. We should try it.

They're all on WHTV or BT

Tottenham - own goal
Chelsea - first goal -terrible weak header straight to scorer
Home to FCSB - piss weak tackle, fails to get back
Home to Viborg - absolutely no effort to challenge for header
Last night - standing around doing fuck knows what - Monkey-head was appalled

'if you think kehrer's been dpgshit, it's not the sport for you'

You're right. Defenders who give away a lot of goals aren't dogshit.

flash - It's a silly criticism, name full backs that bomb down the right then pull up and put over a good cross with their left? I can't even remember Neville doing that. Many right wingers can't even do it effectively. Of course he can use his other peg, but as you say not very well, but I would say that is pretty normal for full backs. Not many two footed ones around IMO.

Right

Not my definition of romping

Manuel ~ I don't think he's too bad defensively, but surely most professional footballers should be able to use both feet, even if crossing from the non-dominant foot isn't perfect!

When you play on the break, as we do, it ruins any advantage you have of a quick break if every time you have to cut back you can't get a cross in of some description

Our full backs are the weakest point in our current team

Re: ⚽ Silkeborg IF v West Ham - Official Match Thread
flash - I don't rate Coufal at all, think he's a Championship player, but come on there hasn't been that many right backs that bomb down the right then cut back and put over a great cross with their left peg.

Takashi Miike ~

In fairness I thought Cresswell was one of our better players last night

I agree that he's far too slow as a LB these days which is why Moyes has tried to accommodate him on the left side of a 3

Given a choice, I would rather see Cresswell start as a LB over Emerson, who I haven't been at all impressed with on his performances so far!

It's not much of a choice I know, but then LB has been our problem position for ages and one that should have been addressed in the last window (or the one before that, or the one before that!)

At least Cresswell can deliver great crosses

On the other flank I get infuriated that Coufal can't cross with his left foot

He bombs down the right side and all the defender has to do is stop him crossing with his right foot, knowing his left foot is ineffective

One bonus of the World Cup is that Soucek & Coufal can finally have a rest.

Maybe they can get back to how they were a year ago.

BRANDED ~ When I say 'Romped home' I didn't mean by over exerting ourselves and going all out to score a hatful of goals

I simply meant that all we needed to do was retain possession and wait for the chances to come our way, which they would have done as Silkeborg IF would have had to have pushed forward to get back into the game, leaving spaces at the back for us to exploit

With the possible exception of Conor Coventry, all the substitutes who came on are extremely likely to play some part in our game against Everton I would think?

Handy to have a CB that can smash corners away back on the scene too. Not many of them about these days.

Re: ⚽ Silkeborg IF v West Ham - Official Match Thread
My view is that we're going to end up with maybe three systems/layouts that we can shift from game to game and even within games as opposed to having just one main one over the last two seasons before this one.

No doubt that will and has cost us points in the short term till we get more used to the new ways. We'd three possible left backs on the pitch at once last night (lol).

This world cup break ain't going to help us though. Fckin FIFA.

Re: ⚽ Silkeborg IF v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Our right side both going forward and defensively is a bigger worry than our left side at the moment.
Practically no attacking threat down the right. Including awful crosses. Defensively weve been targeted down there.

"Delighted that we just managed to hang on for a win last night but we should have romped home"

That would have been nice but 3-1 up at half time gave the team an opportunity not to "overdo" it in the second half with a crucial match on Sunday.

Winning Sunday would excuse any non romping on Thursday and would prove to have been excellent management.

Lets see

lost some pace? he's the slowest fullback in the top divisions. absolute three legged tortoise speed. yes, I mention him a lot because our manager seems happy to change our entire system/formation to accommodate him. stop watching football if you think kehrer's been dpgshit, it's not the sport for you

Delighted that we just managed to hang on for a win last night but we should have romped home

It was an overall poor performance against a poor side where we had better players than them in every position

The first goal could almost be forgiven as it was rather against the run of play and a bit of a defensive aberration. A bit worryingly similar to the second goal Chelsea scored against us

At half time and 3-1 up we had the game sewn up. All we had to do was retain possession, not give the ball away and take the chances we were clearly going to get as they had to push forward and leave spaces at the back to get anything out of the game

Simple! Well it should have been. Some crazy substitutions later, a lack of ability to pass the ball forward quickly enough when a break was on, resulting in several offsides, and the sheer stupidity of Bowen and Benrahma looking for glory by unnecessarily trying to dribble round their defenders and giving up possession cheaply, saw them getting right back into the game, with us hanging on for grim death at the end for the win

A brilliant save by Areola, a wrongly disallowed goal for them and a last ditch tackle from Coufal's toe were the only things that saved us from a humiliating result

Very unprofessional performance and no doubt Moyes is justifiably very angry
